Calling operators: Help shape the future of Stockyard

An exciting new chapter is about to begin at Stockyard – and we’re looking for the right operator to help bring it to life.

Melton Borough Council is now carrying out an early market engagement exercise for experienced operators to help shape and manage the next phase of this flagship project – reinforcing the town’s reputation as the Rural Capital of Food and continuing Stockyard’s transformation into a thriving, food-led destination at the heart of Melton.

A rural destination with national ambition

Building on a strong foundation – including a brewery, pub, restaurant and pop-up markets – the next phase of Stockyard will deliver:

  • 2000 sqm of employment space for food production units
  • A revitalised public realm and upgraded trader halls
  • Greater capacity for multicultural indoor events
  • Enhanced facilities to support market trading and independent business growth

The ambition is to create a destination that supports local enterprise, attracts visitors, and drives economic growth across Melton.

What’s next?

In collaboration with Next Phase, a procurement strategy is being developed to define both what’s needed on site – and who’s best placed to deliver it.

To help shape that strategy, an early market engagement questionnaire is now live – inviting early input and ideas from those interested in playing an important role in contributing to this project.

An evaluation period will follow, with formal procurement expected to open in November 2025, subject to Cabinet approval.

Help shape what’s next

Are you an experienced operator, a creative programmer, or a specialist in place activation? Do you have insight or local knowledge that could help shape Stockyard’s future?

We’re inviting early input via a short market engagement questionnaire, open until 1 July 2025, to help inform the upcoming procurement process.
