Medi-Tech – delivering medical innovation in Rutland and Melton
Bringing brand–new healthcare innovation space to the region, Medi Tech will provide laboratory and light assembly space for clinical trials linked to the development of new medical technology.
The facility will also serve as a professional development centre for clinicians working in the area, as well as a training base for medical students and nurses.
Alongside its core functions, Medi Tech will also be a community health-related hub, housing a café, health trainers and care workers.
Where?
Medi-Tech will be situated at the Oakham Enterprise Park on Ashwell Road, Oakham
What?
The training of health professionals in a rural county will help to address skills shortages that are contributing to health inequalities in areas such as Rutland and Melton Mowbray.
Why?
Drawing on the population health profile of the area, the region has the potential to be a nationally significant centre for clinical trials and the development of medical technology focused on older people.
